Patriot Act: Bad for Your Sinuses

If you are wondering why the boxes of your favorite nasal decongestant have been replaced by laminated cards that, quite frankly, aren't as easy to swallow and don't have the same efficacy as those little red pills, you can thank the Patriot Act for the inconvenience.

 

Although the news is by no means new, Boing Boing is reporting today that the restrictions on purchasing pseudophedrine are part of a bill that was appended to the Patriot Act.  The purpose of the restrictions is "to keep meth dealers from buying Sudafed in quantity to cook it into methamphetamine."  And to think, all this time you thought it was all about illegal wiretapping.
